Nhyiaeso MP funds education of 68 needy but brilliant students at the tertiary level

The Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr Kennedy Kwasi Kankam, has awarded a scholarship package to 68 needy but brilliant students who are pursuing various disciplines at the tertiary level.

The move is to improve their knowledge and also empower them to become prominent personalities in the future.

Nhyiaeso Constituency has been christened by many as a “first class” residential area, but the lifestyle of his constituents vary as the area comprises some urban poor, he said.

Yet, the financial constraints associated with these urban poor, seem to foil the plans of their wards to further their education at the University level.

According to the MP, access to quality education remains a challenge to many of these needy but brilliant students who are interested in pursuing higher education.

“It is in my supreme interest to support these vulnerable in my constituency to the last ladder of their educational career,” he said.

The beneficiary students include both male and female, who are at the various universities pursuing different programmes.

The lawmaker announced this on oyerepa 100.7 fm breakfast show, where he touted educational funding as one of his topmost priorities.

The scholarship, he said will take care of the fees of the students from level 100 to level 400.

The scholarship is funded from his share of the various statutory funds allocated to him as an MP.

He used the medium to appeal to the parents of these needy but brilliant students in the constituency to take advantage of the existing opportunities to assist their wards.

Mr Kankam is optimistic that the future of these brilliant students may not only affect the constituency but the entire country.

He charged the beneficiaries to position themselves to become great assets to the next generation, their families and the world.
