Residents of the Manhyia-North community called Krofrom have heaved a sigh of relief as the main road linking both the eastern part to the west is receiving a face lift.
The 4.1 kilometer stretch of road is being re-graveled through the efforts of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah.
The re-graveling of the main route in the area, according to residents is coming at the heels of many years of neglect by the National Democratic Congress, (NDC).
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper, Francis Opoku, a sports enthusiast narrated how the road is important to residents.
He stressed being in the middle of the community, traders, mechanics and shop owners who had their stalls around the vicinity used that stretch.
DISTRESS:
Mr Eric Bonsu, a driver told the paper that many vehicles struggled to use the route since it had become totally impassable.
Some vehicles, including some of his friends, Mr Bonsu claimed suffered break-downs as they tried meandering their way through the tattered route.
According to him, many artisans who plied their trade on that stretch linking Columbia and Torpido had lost their customers due to the bad nature of the road.
Rather than coming there to spoil their cars, Mr Bonsu disclosed these customers chose to do business with others who had better routes in the constituency.

In a chat with the paper after visiting the construction site en route to Parliament, Hon Amankwah expressed satisfaction at the pace of work by the contractor.
He explained the road had been awarded on contract by the NDC government but strangely no activity had been seen on the road close to five years now.
As the MP for the area, he stressed his determination to bring relief to his constituents and hence the attempt to construct the huge stretch, adding a similar road at Buokrom had been completed.
So far, with roads in Buokrom and Krofrom the MP indicated an amount of about GHC28,000.00 had been spent from his meager resources.
These monies being spent on the two construction sites, he passionately stressed is to ensure residents have easy access to the routes in the community.
