NDC RACE: Interesting revelations from within

rawgist.com’s Kwabena Danso-Dapaah reporting from Ashanti Region says the contest has become a two-horse race; between the incumbent national Chairman, Dr Kwabena Adjei and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Boss, Mr. Kofi Portuphy.

He says the Regional Executives of the party are sharply divided and political analyists are predicting danger for the party in the region should the current happenings remain the same.

Relatively, more names have emerged to contest the Regional Executive postions and it is assumed they are being pushed into the race to cause “confusion” so as to serve the interest of some aspirants who are contesting for positions at the national level.

There are some persons who have also popped-up from “nowhere” and declared to contest the Regional Women’s Organizer position and Youth Organizer position.

It is believed that the new faces are representing the interest of Dr. Kwabena Adjei and Mr. Kofi Portuphy.

Two of such names that have popped-up for the Regional chairmanship post are  Thomas Kwabena Barima a close pal of  Joseph Yammin, deputy Ashanti Regional Minister and the incumbent Yaw Obimpeh who is believed to be a strong authority in Dr. Kwabena Adjei’s camp.

It has been alleged some incumbent regional executives who are responsible for organizing the elections in the constituencies and the regional level have expunged certain names from the delegates list believed to be loyalists of Mr. Portuphy and this is gradually heating up matters within the party.

rawgist.com’s sources on the ground gathered those seeking election for the first time in the region are openly campaigning with Mr. Portuphy’s name while those seeking re-election are also using that of the incumbent chairman Dr. Kwabena Adjei.
