Ghana News-The former Managing Director for the State Housing Company Limited (SHCL), Dr Samuel Sarpong has commiserated with the wife and family of the late Vice-President, His Excellency Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur.
Visiting the residence in Accra early Thursday morning, Dr Sarpong signed the book of condolence after a brief discussion with Mrs Matilda Amissah Arthur, wife of the late VEEP.
Shedding tears while sharing fond memories he had with the late VEEP, Dr Sarpong asked the family to take consolation in the kind of life the man led while he was alive.
He asked the family as well as the members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to be guided by the principles the late VEEP espoused while in private and in political office.
‘’It is terrible to lose such a gem of man in the person of Mr Amissah Arthur but while we shed tears for his death I urge that we take lessons out of his life and lead exemplary and truthful lives’’, Dr Sarpong stressed with passion.
DONATION:
Visiting the studios of Adom Television (Adom Tv) same day, Dr Sarpong on his own behalf and that of the late VEEP, Mr Amissah Arthur donated $1,000 (One Thousand Dollars) towards the surgery of a kid who has a tumor around the head.
Dr Sarpong, a former Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Chief Executive and Ashanti Regional Minister asked the station to use the money to support the advertised kid so as to give him a good life after the surgery.
Explaining why he added the deceased VEEP’s name to the donation, Dr Sarpong recalled a dream he had before the demise of the late VEEP in which he asked that he passed by his house to take some money to add to what he(Sarpong) was intending to give to the needy kid.
This dream, he told the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper was what he was battling to understand in the morning of last Friday when his son suddenly knocked the door to inform him about the demise the late VEEP, whom he calls a very good friend.
‘’I am here at Adom Tv to donate an amount of $1,000 dollars on my own behalf as well as the late VICE-President, Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur so that the kid you advertised of needing help can be attended unto’’, Dr Sarpong said on live television.
MEMORIES:
Sharing some fond memories he had about the late VEEP, Dr Sarpong said he found his feet in the Central region when he was posted as regional minister because Mr Amissah Arthur decided to help him develop the area.
‘’It was through this close collaboration with the Vice-President at the time that ensured the Agona Swedru chiefs and people honored me as Okofo Samuel Sarpong for my hard work’’, Dr Sarpong narrated.
NDC:
Congratulating the newly elected constituency executives of the NDC, Dr Sarpong reminded them of the task ahead of them.
He, however, encouraged that they work hard to justify the confidence the party people have reposed in them as they collectively help the party to regroup and recapture power in 2020.
