Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has suggested making his alma mater; Prempeh College a mixed school.
The school, established in 1949 has remained one of the best Senior High Schools in Ghana.
The former President made the suggestion when he addressed a section of students, headmaster, staff, invited guests and traditional rulers who graced the school’s 68th anniversary speech and prize giving day.
He suggests that either another girls school is established and named Prempeh Girls, or a merger between girls schools like Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ or St. Louis Senior High Schools.
Former President Kufuor believes this move will promote gender balance and will also make campus life more interesting for the boys.
“We have for 68 years lived on this campus all alone without girls and on this note, I suggest we are provided with our girls to make life on campus comfortable “, he added.
The former President also praised the leadership of President Akufo Addo during his ten months as President of Ghana.
