Joseph YamminFormer Deputy Ashanti regional Minister, Joseph Yammin has expressed gratitude to President John Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve his country.

The President in a statement withdrew with immediate effect the appointment of Ashanti Regional Minister, Samuel K. Sarpong, and his Deputy, Joseph Yammin.

The statement which was signed by Minister for Communications Dr. Edward OmaneBoamah indicated that Brong Ahafo Regional Minister Eric Opoku will act as Ashanti Regional Minister until a substantive Minister is appointed.

Former Deputy Ashanti regional minister when reached by rawgist.com early Wednesday for a reaction said he is grateful to the President for the opportunity to serve his country.

There has been a lot of events within the NDC in the Ashanti region leading up to this announcement with many groups within the party calling for the removal of the former Ashanti regional Minister Samuel Sarpong. Many NDC activists and groups were of the view the attitude of the former minister wouldn’t auger well for the party’s 1 million vote target in the Ashanti region.

It is also a widely held believe within the NDC that seeming friction between the Dr. Samuel Sarpong on one hand, and Joseph Yammin, Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu and NDC Chairman Yaw Obimpeh if not ended will not inure to the benefit of the region.
