Volta region: Police arrest narcotics transporter, call for public collaboration ahead of yuletide

The Police in the Volta region is cautioning residents against narcotic trade and related activities.

They issued the warning after 26-year-old music producer Ola Adanekan Kabiru was remanded in prison custody for transporting narcotics.

The Aflao District Police assisted by members of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly Revenue Mobilisation task force arrested Ola for attempting to transport one 28kg gas cylinder stocked with dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Police explained in a release that the suspect’s modus operandi include is to cut open the base of the 28Kg cylinder, stock it with the substance, seal the cylinder and finally spray the surface to avoid detection.

Police investigations revealed that the suspect had succeeded in transporting a similar content to Nigeria in October, 2019

“While the suspect is taken through the judicial processes, caution is hereby given to all persons involved in similar illegal enterprises to stop forthwith or risk arrest and prosecution. Criminals must be reminded that the Police is highly vigilant and will stop at nothing in delivering on its mandate.”

The Volta regional Police command encouraged all law abiding citizens to continue to collaborate with the Police in the fight against crime to ensure incident free yuletide.

They also called on residents to provide credible and prompt information that can assist the command via toll free numbers 191 and 18555 or 0244313823 and 0202180842.
