Suame Magazine is not MP’s responsibility- Suame MP

osei-kyei-mensah-bonsuMember of Parliament for Suame; Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has shirked responsibility for the development of the Suame Magazine.

He says it is the responsibility of the Central government and not the MP. “Suame magazine is like Kumasi market. it’s a light industrial hub even though it’s located in the constituency, it is a national issue and not one for Suame MP”, he said on TV3’s  +275 debate segment of New day in defense of the current state of the Magazine during his tenure as MP of the area.

He however explained that he has lobbied for street lights and roads for the Suame Magazine and is currently trying to get a fire tender for the area. “We are pushing the government to provide training for artisans”, he added.

Mr. Kyei Mensah-Bonsu found a safe haven in the explanation that development projects are not an MP’s cup of tea, an assertion which was vehemently opposed by the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Suame Constituency; Yaw Brogya Genfi who was also on the show.

Brogya Genfi explained that the MP has access to several funds created to help bring relief to constituents. He pointed out however that the current MP has shirked his responsibilities to the people of Suame and has chosen the easy way out. “It is in fact a responsibility of the MP. It is incumbent on the MP to take the industrial hub as his baby and champion the cause of the magazine”, Brogya Genfi explained to the Minority Leader.

He explained that the MP is confidently shirking his responsibilities to the people and is relying on the strength of his party (the NPP) within the constituency and urged the people of Suame to vote him out for taking them for granted for so long.

Major problem for magazine is congestion and struggle for land.
