Police hunt Chairman Wontumi for assaulting MP

wontumiThe Ashanti regional Police is on the heel of Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party over an assault of the Manhyia North MP, Collins Owusu Amankwah.

Bernard Antwi Boasiako allegedly dished out some hefty slaps to the Member of Parliament for the Manhyia North Constituency, Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah Sunday. The act is reported to have taken place in the full glare of the public at a registration center called Fordwuor House in Krofrom.

This, was after the Chairman, accompanied by his private bodyguards numbering about 15 pounced on the hapless constituency secretary, Felix Ibrahim and beaten him to pulp for assisting the legislator to flout his orders in replacing agents he had assigned to that particular polling station.

A statement released by the Ashanti regional Police Command and signed by the Ashanti Police PRO ASP Yusif Tanko, states that the Ashanti NPP chair has disregarded an invitation extended to him by the Police to assist in investigation.

“Instructions have therefore been issued to the regional CID to have Chairman Wontumi arrested to assist investigation”, the statement said.

The Police believe it will be in Mr. Antwi Boasiako’s interest to report to the Police and answer to the offence of assault brought against him by the Manhyia North MP and Constituency Secretary of the NPP; Mr. Felix Ibrahim.
