Give Us Female Running Mate From Ashanti—26 Market Groups Appeal To Bawumia, NPP.
Leaders and members of 26 market groups in Ashanti have appealed to the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamodu Bawumia to choose a female from the Ashanti Region as his running mate for the December 7 election.
According to the group leaders who were clad in red armbands and chanting patriotic songs at Bantama Race Course on Thursday, the Ashanti region possesses highly qualified females who could easily fit the role of a running mate and subsequently Vice President when elected.
Nkrumah Adasa, spokesperson for the group intimated that if the NPP party would want to rake in more votes in Ashanti it should consider a female running mate from same.
“We know why John Mahama chose Naana Jane and it is crucial that Dr Bawumia chooses a female running mate so that the NPP can rake in the votes that females attract from the public during elections”, the spokesperson stated.

Madam Adasa noted that the NPP wins elections mainly because Ashanti votes en bloc for it.
This, she stressed, meant that the party should listen to the concerns from persons from the region especially market women and traders whose influence knows no bounds.
The spokesperson said currently the NDC plans to use Naana Jane to sway especially women folks to vote for it on December 7.
“We the 26 market groups have being voting for the NPP since 1992 and we are solid behind it but we need a female running mate this time around to partner our brilliant flag-bearer so that we can sweep the female votes in the country”, the spokesperson posited.

Madam Adasa explained that statistics show women are dominant in the country’s population.
This, she noted points to the fact that women have decisive powers to determine who wins an election.
Failing to mention names, the spokesperson said their very abode and trading arenas were given and prepared for them by women leaders in Ashanti.
“As women we know how caring and considerate our likes can be and it is on this score that we ask that a female is chosen by Dr Bawumia as running mate so that our concerns and plight could best be articulated to him and solutions gotten for our comfort and development”, the spokesperson stated.
