Ghana Shippers’ Authority cautions members against paying extra port charges

Tema-harbourThe Ghana Shippers’ Authority has cautioned shippers against paying more than the amount published in the national dailies on port charges.

At a day’s forum to educate shippers in Kumasi on avoiding self inflicted problems, the Kumasi Branch Manager of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, Robin-Huws Barnes emphasized the need for shippers to be at breast with the regulations governing their industry.

He says the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, in consonance with its mandate of promoting and protecting the interest of both importers and exporters has been working tirelessly to ensure that shippers conduct businesses with minimum logistical costs.

He also encouraged shippers to engage reputable freight forwarders and clearing agents for their cargoes to avoid problems.

The forum was held under the auspices of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority and the Ministry of Transport
