Egg prices to go up next month

eggsConsumers of eggs should brace themselves to pay more for the product.

This consensus was reached at a  forum for poultry farmers and retailers in Kumasi.

The forum also sought to find means of enhancing production and promotion of poultry and poultry products.

Membership to the Poultry Farmers Association was also extended to interested farmers who wished to become part of the association.

Chairman of the Egg Pricing Committee, Mr. Agyemang Tuffour announced the new prices as Ghc8.00, Ghc9.00. and Ghc10.00 ranging from small, medium and large eggs per crate to sellers at the Kumasi Central Market.

The prices are expected to take effect from June, 2014.

They cited the “high cost involved in the importation of feeds and equipment for the business”

The farmers tell rawgist.com they are putting up measures to ensure price uniformity countrywide.

Meanwhile, President Mahama, at his recent visit to Ashanti Region promised adequate funding to poultry farmers to boost production.
