Atwima Kyekyewere chief calls for gov’t support

The Chief of Atwima Kyekyewere in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti Region, Nana Appiagyei Danka I, has called on the government to support the community to complete a number of projects he has initiated since he ascended the stool one and a half years ago.

Highlighting the projects, the Chief said they included the construction of a one-storey Police Station complex which is about ninety percent completed, the rehabilitation of the old Chief’s palace, a new palace building now under construction and a bore-hole. A new market is expected to be constructed soon.

According to him, he has rehabilitated all the street roads in the community.

“My concern is the deplorable state of the major road linking our town and other communities contracted by the government but has been abandoned for the past five months. There is the danger of catching diseases due to excessive clouds of dust during the dry season while we experience muddy roads in the rainy season which create a lot of inconveniences for the residents”, he lamented.

He explained that Chiefs are mandated to oversee the development of their communities and he has the official approval from the Lands Commission for proper documentation of all lands which now paves the way for further development.

Nana Danka appealed to both local and foreign industrialists to invest in the area to create employment opportunities for the youth in line with the government’s policy of one district one factory.
