We have very interesting line-ups for both teams. The reserve side of the Toaso team is as potent as those going to play, and I believe the coach wants to “rest” them as part of his strategy.

The Nyasafuo team is packed with members of the Akyem Mafia, and frankly speaking I think the coach and captain of the Nyasafuo team must be guilty of excessive divisiveness; Mahamadu Bawumia is not even on the bench; and  in all fairness, his exclusion from the team is unacceptable – Bawumia has worked so hard for the team, and done all the dirty work.

This development is very unfortunate. Unity is the force that brings a team together; once it is killed, the implications could be disastrous — the team disintegrate and eventually dies. The demeanor of the supporters of Nyasafuo at this sports stadium is not good enough – I can sense a mixed feeling of sadness, anger and disappointment.

Ladies and gentlemen, the players of both sides are now on the field exchanging felicitations, I can see Prof. Mar… oops, sorry, Prof. Nartey in a beautiful jersey with the inscription, “One cassock, one goal” at the back of the jersey.

The referee blows his whistle for the commencement of the match, Julius Kwesi Debrah sends a long one to Amissah Arthur, he heads the ball to Fiifi Kwettey, Fiifi surges forward across the centre line and fires a long range shot, but goalkeeper Ursula Owusu punches it over the cross bar for a corner kick.

Johnny Osei Kofi is standing behind the ball for the corner kick. He sends a nice one into the penalty box, but John Boadu kicks it over the bar for another corner kick. Kikikikikiki, pressure be what? Horace Nii Ankrah takes a beautiful corner into the area of Nyasafuoo FC, Gabby Okyere Darko heads the ball to Ken Ofori-Atta, he dribbles the ball past two men and sends a short one to Atta Akyea, Atta Akyea to Amfo Kwakye, Amfo Kwakye to Asante Bediatuo, but Valerie Sawyerr  intercepts the ball and kicks it to Afriyie Ankrah , Ankrah sends a beautiful one to Omane Boamah; he heads it nicely to Julius Debrah, Julius dribbles the ball past three men and gives a nice pass to Amissah Arthur. He is moving with the ball, he sends a terrific  pass to Horace Nii Ankrah, he chests the ball and sends a long one to Afriyie Ankrah, Afriyie dribbles the ball past four men in a Brazilian style, but the ball was intercepted by John Boadu.

Boadu  sends a quick one to Gabby Okyere Darko, Gabby turns round nicely and sends a mid-air pass to Captain Nana Akufo-Addo, but he is too short to get his head to it, and the ball crosses the line for a throw-in.

Valerie  picks the ball for a throw-in, she throws it to Amissah Arthur, he brakes the ball and sends a nice pass to John Mahama, he sends a quick one to Omane Boamah; Omane moves towards the penalty box; it’s becoming dangerous. Ken Ofori-Atta attempts to intercept the ball but wasn’t successful, Omane surges forward dangerously, putting pressure on the defence of Nana Addo’s men, Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu moves in with a tackle, but it’s a goooal! It’s a gooal! Ladies and gentlemen, Mensah-Bonsu has scored an own goal. The pressure was too much.

Osei Kyei Mensah- Bonsu is being substituted with Chairman Wontumi. The ball is at the centre line, Chairman Wontumi sends a beautiful pass to Nana Addo, he also sends a quick one to Prof. Emmanuel Nartey, he moves dangerously towards the penalty box, are we going to see the equalizer? Prof! He moves on. Ooh what a tackle? Koku Anyidoho kicks him mercilessly.

The referee pulls his whistle, what am I seeing? There seems to be trouble. Olalaa! The referee points to the penalty box. It’s a penaaalty! Oh what a calamity? Prof. is standing behind the ball ready to take the kick. Nyasafuoohene! What can he do? A shot, and it’s a goooooooooooooalkeeper! Fantastic Joyce Mogtari Bawa! Somehow, Goalkeeper Joyce Bawa was able to claw the ball back  before crossing the goal line; oh what a save? Laa ilaaha illallah!

Joyce sends a long aerial ball to the middle of the pitch, Nana Akufo-Addo attempted to put his head to it, but again his height was a disadvantage, and he was easily challenged by Johnny Osei Kofi. Osei Kofi chests the ball and sends a short pass to Julius Debrah,  Julius sends a back heel pass to John Dramani Mahama. He dribbles past three men, Magic Mahama, what can he do? He flashes his legs over the ball in a Ronaldhino style.

He moves dangerously towards the penalty box; the spectators are screaming  JM toaso! He surges forward, it’s a gooooooooooooal! JM scores by sending a powerful drive to the far left corner of the goal post. Ursula Owusu was completely mesmerized, she found herself diving to the opposite direction of the ball. What a goal. Ladies and gentlemen, Toaso United 2, Nyansafuo FC 0. The referee whistles for the end of  half-time.

The second half of the match has began, and Coach Asiedu Nketia has decided to rest the limbs of some of his top players. Four substitutions have been made. Fiifi Kwettey out, Sidii Abubakar in; Valerie Sawyerr out,  Kofi Adams in; Koku Anyidoho out, Nii Lamptey Vanderpuje in; Spio Garbrah replaces Elvis Afriyie Ankrah.

Spio Garbrah sends a long one to Amissah Arthur, he brakes the ball and turns round, he gives a pass to Kofi Adams, Kofi the Field Marshal dribbles the ball past two men, he sends a long one to Commander Sidii, Sidii is at his brilliant best, he heads the ball beautifully to Horace Ankrah; a bicycle kick, and it is a goal! The master tactician, Horace Nii Ankrah has scored the third goal for Toaso United. That was a beautiful goal by all standards.

Amfo Kwakye  sends a long one to Nana Akomea, he turns beautifully and sends a short pass to Nana Asante Bediatuo, he sends a pass to Nana Akufo-Addo; a shot, and the ball deflects from the body of a Toaso defender,  and it’s a corner kick advantage to the Nyasafuo.

It is 70 minutes into the second half, and the scores remain Toaso 3,  Nyasafuo 0. Nana Addo is ready to effect the corner kick; he is panting for breath, he curls a nice one to Prof. Nartey,  Prof sends a long volley, but oops, it’s over the bar. That was a very disappointing kick from the Nyasafuohene, he was completely unmarked, but chose to be absolutely wasteful. It was an expensive miss — a hundred thousand-dollar miss for that matter.

Goalkeeper Joyce Bawa throws the ball to Kofi Adams, Kofi to Ekow Spio-Garbrah, Spio to Sidii, he turns round and passes the ball to Osei Kofi, he sends a long one to Julius Debrah, Julius sends a pass to JM,  JM to  Nii Lamptey Vanderpuje, Nii Lamptey to Omane Boamah. Oh my God the Toaso team is a delight to watch. Omane dribbles the ball past two men, and sends a beautiful pass to Kofi Adams, he turns round beautifully, but awwww, a savage tackle from Atta Akyea. The referee whistles for an infringement.

Regular time of 90 minutes is up, and the referee adds injury time of 5 minutes. It has been an exciting match; and Toaso  leads ball possession with 57% and Nyansafuo are trailing with 43%.

JM sends a long one into the area of Nyasafuo. Nana Akufo-Addo attempts to clear the ball with a header, but it’s a goooooooal! Nana Akufo-Addo, he scores an own goal, this is absolutely unbelievable! Eish, there is drama here, Nana has gone for the ball, he is racing across the pitch, shouting, “Yen bo biem”, meaning we won’t play again, but it is too late for him; everything has come to an end, the referee has blown his whistle for the end of proceedings. Toaso United has won the match by four goals to nil, there is total ecstasy here at the Accra Sports Stadium for the fans of United. Nyasafuo  are totally shattered; their supporters are sauntering out of the stadium with heavy hearts.

And if there is something I have learned from this match, it is the power of unity. The division in the Nyasafuo team has cost them a great deal. This is your ace commentator bringing a live commentary from the Accra Sports Stadium. God be with you all till I come your way again.
