Dr Samuel Sarpong, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), parliamentary aspirant for the Nhyiaeso constituency says like a whirlwind he would sweep the votes in the upcoming poll to become the Member of Parliament for the elite constituency.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper in response to allegations by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that he was posing as one of them to lure people into voting for him, Dr Sarpong said such claims were false.
According to him, nowhere had he claimed to be a member of the NPP but rather members of the NPP had jumped ship and were rooting for him.
Every National Sanitation Day and national holiday, the State Housing Managing Director disclosed supporters of the NPP flocked around him to participate either in the clean-up exercise or keep-fit games he consistently organize in the constituency.
Dr Sarpong, confidently posited, that such show of support to him informed his confidence of securing a famous and memorable win in the 7th December parliamentary poll.
‘’I am confident that with this overwhelming support by known NPP members and residents of my constituency not only will I win the upcoming election but win it in grand style”, the former KMA Mayor drummed.
He dismissed claims by the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman that he was using monetary inducements to lure people into his fold.
According to him, these were false claims which signified an array of desperation by the NPP and its attempt to throw mud at him so as to distract him from clinching the parliamentary seat at Nhyiaeso.
Narrating how he intends to maximize votes at the NPP stronghold to upset the apple cards, Dr Sarpong pointed to his selfless and father for all attributes to win the hearts and minds of Nhyiaeso constituents.
He recalled how he used his good offices as the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) for Kumasi and as Regional Minister to facilitate job opportunities for the youth in Kumasi.
Dr Sarpong also relived many collaborative programs his office had with most of the region’s Members of Parliament where residents benefitted from many infrastructural projects they initiated together.
Some of these, the State Housing Manager pointed to as monumental landmarks that would be looked upon by Nhyiaeso constituents to afford him the opportunity to serve them further more as their legislator.
In a related development, Dr Samuel Sarpong has in conjunction with some friends of his acquired an ultra-modern office facility for the Nhyiaeso NDC.
The office complex, according to the former Mayor would serve as offices for constituency executives and party workers in Nhyaieso.
He noted the facility would also enable the party function properly since they will now have a central location to plan the party’s activities as it readies itself for the main campaign season.
