We cannot afford to fight the NPP on their terms-Rawlings

NDC-crowdFormer President Jerry John Rawlings has warned the NDC against underestimating the NPP.

Flt. Lt. Rawlings was addressing a mammoth crowd of NDC faithful during the launch of the NDC’s election 2016 campaign in Cape Coast.

“The NPP cannot be underestimated. They’ve been in existence for a long time and have been changing their names up till this time. The nature of who they are, what they are, where they’ve come from, is something they’re happy with and they will be there for a long time”, he stated.

“Let’s not mimic their behavior. Let’s reach into the principles and the values that gave birth to us. If we can hold onto those principlesRawlings_Aboabo (3) and values, we will move way into the future and no one can ever defeat us. We will rise and override every circumstance as we did in the past. Mimic them as some of us are doing and we will run into problems”.

He explained to members of the NDC that the task ahead was not an easy one and advised that the NDC resist the temptation to fight the NPP on the NPP’s terms. He also advised against “unnecessary provocation” which has the tendency to create undue tension.

“Let’s go through this campaign as responsibly as we hopefully can all the way through the election. I will reserve what I have to say till after the elections when I will come around the country to share with you how I think we could restore the kind of strength that can take us well into the future”, he echoed.
