Pastor Ransford Obeng has advised Christians to examine the lives of their leaders to determine their authenticity.
The founder and leader of the Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) believe a Christian leader cannot live a life separate from what he preaches. “By their fruits, you shall know them”, he insisted.
Pastor Ransford Obeng who was speaking to journalists in Kumasi said like any other profession, there are genuine Pastors and fake ones whose sole preoccupation is making money.
He says such false “men of God” are able to reach thousands through various media available and thereby increase their domain of influence considerably.
He says the only people who can kill the ministry of such false Pastors are the people who patronize their churches. He says the Christian council may not be authorized to shut such pastors down even if they know of their misdeeds because the law makes room for freedom of Association. He explained that the Christian council is limited in what it can do as they rely on their influence to advise members on what to do.
“The Christian Council can only use their influence to advise. They cannot enforce. Let everybody look at the life style of the pastors they follow. Their lifestyle is key. By their fruits you will know them” Pastor Ransford summarized.
Asked about government’s proposal to tax churches, he said further explanations have been offered and he is in total agreement with the government.
“The government says it is not taxing offerings and tithes but taxing church businesses like transportation services and other activities that constitute trading. We don’t trade” he said.
