UTAG honours EDUCATION Minister

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh being honoured with a citation by Dr Eric Opoku, President of UTAG at a colourful ceremony at KNUST

The National Executive Committee of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) has honoured the Minister of Education, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh for his extraordinary support for the course of the association.

As a result, UTAG has presented a citation to the Minister at the National UTAG Congress held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in appreciation.

The UTAG Congress which was held in partnership with the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT was under the theme: “Harmonising Standards in Ghanaian Tertiary Education Systems: Challenges and Implications”.

The Outgoing UTAG National President, Dr. Eric Opoku Mensah who read the citation in the presence of Dr. Opoku Prempeh also known as Napo, described the Education Minister as a true leader who had proven to be  a true friend of UTAG.

The citation mentioned that the Education Minister’s “ready-to-engage-and-explain strategy”  coupled with his readiness to listen and learn had been the bedrock of his success and thus differentiated him from his predecessors who had not survived long in the office.

It said though Napo is part of the government, he had always  maintained a soft paw for UTAG during negotiations hence their appreciation for the extraordinary support in championing the course of UTAG, hence being recognized as “a true friend”.
