The testimony of a taxi driver

Nicholas Omane AcheampongNicholas Omane Acheampong of Zaphanat Panea and Tabitha Kum fame is a gospel singer who never ceases to amaze me with weird song titles, one of which is Mahashala – Hashbaz. The song title was taken from Isaiah 8:1-3 in the Holy Bible which means the enemy or evil one shall be destroyed; and the part which fascinates me most is “Kushi, Kushi”; the sound of cutting in twi. In the song, Nicholas Omane Acheampong says he is going to cut the enemy, “Kushi, kushi.”

I don’t want to sound political, but my mind goes back to the happenings of the NPP anytime I listen to the song. In 2008, the actions of some leading members of the NPP helped to send the Elephant into the bush as stated in Dr. Arthur Kennedy’s book, “Chasing the Elephant into the Bush.” In 2012, the Elephant was not only chased into the bush, but was hounded deeper into the bush. With current developments among the handlers of the Elephant, it is obvious that they are not only ready to push the Elephant deeper into the bush, but are ready to butcher it and finish it kwatakwata!

A few weeks ago, I took a taxi and decided to engage the driver in some political talk to elicit information from him. According to the taxi driver he is a floating voter, and doesn’t belong to any political party. He told me he had decided some months ago to vote for the NPP, but has changed his mind because of the current turmoil in the party. He lamented that if the leaders of the party can’t manage a small group like the NPP, there is no way they can manage the entire nation. Interestingly, he said that is the view of most of his customers.

He further stated that God rules in the affairs of Ghana, and doesn’t want war to occur in our dear nation that is why He has caused the NPP to prepare the grounds for its own defeat. In this case they cannot blame anybody when they lose; and no reasonable person would support them if they attempt to activate the all-die-be-die mode.

I want to agree with the taxi driver that God has a hand in what is going on in this country. I am a Christian, and a good one for that matter. My Bible tells me that things are not done by our strength or by our might, but by the spirit of God, and that it is God who enthrones kings. I believe God’s hand is upon His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, and no-one can touch God’s anointed and get off scot free.

I love Romans 13:1-2, and I read:”let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgement on themselves.”

Also, God declares in Isaiah 49:26 of the Bible that, “I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be drunk in their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, The Lord am your Saviour, your Redeemer, the Mighty one of Jacob.” Hehehehe, if the Bible you are reading belongs to you, underline “your” and put “Mahama’s” against it.

Eiwoo, per Nicholas Omane Acheampong’s song, come 2016, the Elephant would be cut Kushi, kushi. Kikikikikiki, I want to apply for the job of an Elephant undertaker, what do you think?
