Jachie youth cry over empty & abandoned palace, plead with Otumfuo for legitimate Chief

Ghana News-The youth and some opinion leaders of Jachie in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti region, are making a passionate appeal to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,  the Asantehene to select a legitimate Chief for them to ensure peace and development in the town.

Mr. Akwasi Adu, spokesperson for the youth in a press briefing, expressed worry over the five years vacancy after the demise of the Chief of Jachie Nana Baffuor Kwaku Amoateng in 2013.

He explains that because the town has no legitimate Chief, there is no development going on in the town.

He lamented that, all town roads are deteriorated, pipe borne water is not flowing while the Chief’s palace which was built by the late chief and commissioned by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II,  the Asantehene on the 7th November, 2012 has been taken over by snakes as the compound has been left bushy.

He alleged that, because there is no legitimate Chief in the town, Nana Afia Konadu Pankyie and Nana Osei Bonsu, the Queen Mother and Abontendomhene respectively are selling the lands without being accountable to the people, yet nothing is going on to address their pressing challenges in terms of the town roads, water system and renovation of the palace.

Nana Osei Bonsu, the Abontedomhene, of Jachie, reacting to the allegations, stated that, Nananom have not neglected the palace as the youth allege.

He disclosed that, since the demised of the late Chief, they have contracted a caretaker to keep the palace clean and tidy, but the person travelled, and since it is rainy season the compound has become bushy recently, because there is no occupant. They also explain that they have applied herbicide to the place recently..

Commenting on the sales of lands without accountability,  he rubbished the allegations, saying it could be those families who own lands that are into the sales of lands to some individuals but not Nananom.
