Success chalked by Education ministry legendary-Napo

The Minister for Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh says successes chalked by the Akufo Addo government in the sector he oversees is legendary.

According to him, apart from the seamless implementation of the free Senior High School policy the ministry has also been able to implement about 11 reforms in the sector including same number at the University level.

Addressing news editors in Kumasi on Friday, Dr NAPO as the famous Manhyia South legislator is called said the NPP  restored teacher trainees allowance in a record time as well as increased the book and research allowance at the University level and streamlined the computer placement system to ensure BECE candidates gained admission in a seamless manner into SHS.

The Minister stated that being the best performing ministry, it is not surprising that it is the one that is constantly attacked by elements in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

SHS:
Touching on the recent difficulties the Education Ministry recorded in the computer placement system for SHS 1 students, Dr NAPO noted that people with evil intentions hacked into the CSSPS system.

This, he noted resulted in children who ordinarily did not do well in the BECE exams being artificially placed in good schools.

The Ministry upon diligent and proactive approach decided to shut the self placement system down and to nullify every tampering of its system, Dr  NAPO revealed.

That measure, he recalled has enabled the CSSPS to place about 90% of BECE candidates in their schools of choice with those accessing the self placement module also finding places at schools they chose as second, third, fourth and fifth choice.

”As I speak to you now about 90% of BECE candidates have found schools they chose to attend as we work to ensure every SHS bound pupil gets a school. In fact there are more spaces available than those who don’t have schools to attend”, Dr NAPO noted.

CONSPIRACY:
Mincing no words, Dr NAPO said he is prepared to take all the filth being thrown at him by some misguided elements.

According to him, part of the plan was to describe him as the one seeking to introduce the controversial comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) into the countrys education curricula.

He wondered why an action taken by the Mahama administration in 2015 would be hung on his neck as the one seeking to in a subtle manner introduce LGBT and its  teachings into the school system.

Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh said as a practicing Christian he will be the last person to spearhead an action that is against his faith, beliefs and which is also alien to customs and culture of the Ghanaian people.

”I am prepared to steer the course of education and ensure the strides we make helps to propel Nana Addo to win a second term in office as President in the upcoming elections 2020”, Dr NAPO intimated.
