Free SHS: Nana Addo praises Education minister to Otumfuo

Ghana Politics News-The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says the free senior high school education policy has become successful because of the excellent leadership qualities of the Education Minister.

Despite facing a lot of criticisms from those he termed as naysayers, the President alluded to the successful implementation of the program to the sterling performance of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

Speaking at the Manhyia Palace last weekend when he joined Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to celebrate Akwasidae, a famous celebration of the Ashanti’s, the President said the free SHS has come to stay.

The policy, he told Otumfuo and the gathering has been effectively rolled out, adding all the fine tuning will be done by the Ministry under the leadership of Napo, as the Education Minister is fondly referred to.

‘’Otumfuo am glad to report to you that the free education policy I planned to implement when I won power has been effectively rolled out by your own grandson, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh’’, the President noted to deafening cheers from the crowd.

DEPUTY MINISTER:

Commending Napo’s deputy, Dr Yaw Adutwum, the President noted the Bosomtwi MP is complimenting the efforts of the Education Minister in ensuring a smooth and continuous implementation of the free SHS policy.

The work of the two, the President noted is contributing immensely to the success of the New Patriotic Party in government.

He praised the symmetry between Napo and Dr Adutwum and urged them to be focused in fine tuning the free SHS policy.

The success of the policy, the President noted will ensure all children born in the country have the chance of at least attending and completing basic education at the senior high school level.

‘’ Otumfuo permit me to thank you once again for giving me another outstanding grandson of yours in Dr Yaw Adutwum whose partnership with Napo is ensuring that all qualified students at Junior high school get the opportunity to continue their education in Senior high school without paying for it’’, Nana Addo stressed.

DOUBLE TRACK:

The President told Otumfuo that the upcoming implementation of the double track system of free SHS is a well thought out one.

The system, he mentioned will allow about 180, 000 qualified students to enjoy free SHS at a more conducive environment.

The double track system, he stressed will afford the students an opportunity to school at semester basis so that while one set of group is in class for a semester the other group will start theirs after the former have vacated from school.

The policy, the President intimated will not compromise quality but rather increase enrollment as well as study periods in the classroom.

‘’It is worth noting that the double track system will afford over 180,000 students who have qualified to be in SHS the opportunity to be in school in a semester basis’’, Nana Addo noted passionately.
