Save kids at KATH-Pastor Ransford weeps

Pastor-RansfordThe General Overseer of the Calvary Charismatic Center,(CCC) Pastor Ransford Obeng has called on both authorities at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital,(KATH) and government to attend to the unfortunate deaths occurring at the main children’s ward at the hospital.

According to him, young and frail kids at the wards were dying at an alarming rate with most of them as a result of their parents inability to cough out monies being demanded for their treatment.

Addressing the church’s congregation last Wednesday at its youth center, the Reverend Minister with a tearful eye narrated how children were dying at the wards during his recent visit.

One parent, he disclosed had told the doctors at the ward to let their six (6)year old die simply because he had no money to pay for the treatment the doctors had requested.

He revealed distressed doctors at the main ward who cannot bear the sight of losing children they are treating often use their own monies to cater for them.

FAILING NHIS.

The church leader described the situation at KATH as so bad, and shuddered at what pertained at facilities located at rural areas where poverty is severe.

Though many, he inquired were NHIS registrants, however, the type of ailments some had were not covered by the scheme.

He wondered why the scheme had not made exemptions for children who required special treatment to make them live to influence their generation with the in-built talents.

Pastor Obeng posited the NHIS had been rendered a mere paper at the hospital since laboratory and x-ray tests were not covered by the scheme.

He mentioned the least amount one had to pay for lab and X-Ray tests was equivalent to someone’s whole month’s salary with some as huge as GHC 200.00.

CHARGE:

The Gospel Minister rallied government to take charge of the worrying situation at the country’s hospitals.

He specifically mentioned the Health Minister to take charge of the situation so as to save the huge numbers that were dying at the facility.

Pastor Obeng urged government to prioritize the health needs of the public rather than investing monies in useless ventures.

Children, he noted were the future leaders of the Nation and therefore urged government to take particular interest in their welbeing.
