Prez Mahama Given A 24-Hour Ultimatum To Sack Yamoah Ponkoh

yamoah-ponkorAFRIFA YAMOAH Ponkoh’s continual stay in office as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region has come under serious threat.

Scores of top NDC members in the area have called for the immediate dismissal from office of the beleaguered politician.

They have given President Mahama a 24-hour ultimatum to sack Yamoah Ponkoh, saying his tenure had expired.

Led by Rauf Mohammed, NDC deputy youth organizer of Ejisu, the party members warned that they would make the metropolis ungovernable if Yamoah Ponkoh was not sacked.

Rauf Mohammed noted that Yamoah Ponkoh’s four-year stay in office expired in May this year, but he was still in office as MCE.

Speaking on Nhyira FM, Rauf said Mr Yamoah Ponkoh’s continual stay in office is illegal and so the president should sack him from office with immediate effect.

He alleged that he (Ponkoh) had been ordered by the presidency to hand over to the Ashanti Regional Minster, Peter Anarfi Mensah, but he is refusing to do so.

According to Rauf, if Yamoah Ponkoh continued to stay in office the NDC members would make things extremely difficult for him.

Reacting to the agitation, Mr Yamoah Ponkoh described the pressure being mounted for his sack by the NDC members as unnecessary.

He told Kofi Asante, host of the show, that he was focused on his duties as the MCE of Ejisu and so he was not perturbed by the pressure being mounted on him.

He said it was the president who appointed him so it is only he (President) who can sack him.
