President Akufo Addo Officially Informed of Death of Late Member of Parliament Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko

Ghana Politics News-A sixteen-member delegation of the family of the late New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West, Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko, led by Nene Terkpernor Adipah IV, Senior Divisional Chief of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area, Acting for and on behalf of Nene Sakite II, Konor of Manya Krobo, have officially paid a courtesy call on the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to formally inform him of the sudden death of the Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko.

The late Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko, passed on to eternity on the 21st of November, 2018, in the United States to f America where he was seeking medical attention after a short illness. The delegation informed the President that the family will be meeting shortly to agree on all details regarding the funeral and burial of the late MP and all the details agreed upon will be communicated to the Presidency.

President Akufo Addo in response to the brief statement by the leader of the delegation said the death of Mr. Agyarko, a stalwart in the New Patriotic Party and in Ghana as a whole, came to him as a very big shock and sad development. He assured the family that the State will support their efforts and arrangements in order to give the late Member of Parliament a befitting funeral and burial.

The late Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko

The late Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko was born on the 10th of December, 1957, at Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region. His father, Kwasi Agyarko was a merchant and United Party activist from Jamase, Ashanti Region and his mother was Jane Ladze Padi from Odumase Krobo in the Eastern Region.

He had a Bachelor in Pharmacy in 1982, which he obtained at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He was a pharmacist, a medical doctor and an active politician known for defending the NPP and government’s policies in the media. He was once the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority during President Kufuor-led administration spanning from 2001 to 2009.

A strong member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kyerematen Agyarko has been the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency since 2012 after he replaced the current Chief of Staff, Frema Opare as MP for the area.
