Ahafo South West NPP rejects donation from potential MP aspirant

Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah is still shocked after his donation to the Ahafo Ano South West Constituency office was rejected by Executives of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He told journalists that he had duly consulted the party executives and a date duly set for the donation of office equipment to the party office. He however says his calls were left unanswered when the day of the donation (10th June, 2019) arrived. He recounts how he had to use another line to call in order to reach the executives who were ignoring his calls.

He explains that it was only after he reached them with a different line that the Chairman informed him that there was a Regional meeting set for that morning in Kumasi and hence they could not meet him.

He said he had gone ahead to the party office together with his friends to present the items only to realize that the office was locked.

There are however rumours that Mr. Owusu Ansah intends to contest the sitting Member of Parliament for the areas.

Mr. Owusu Ansah said he is particularly shocked because his relationship with the chairman has always been cordial.

He alleged that the conduct of the executives was due to the presence of the MP of the area in the town as he has hinted of intentions to contest the MP.

Meanwhile, Evans Sarpong Antwi, the constituency secretary admitted the executives were unable to receive the items. He however explained that their inability to receive the items was not due to his political intention to contest the sitting MP. He explained that the timing was not favourable and added that the notice given to the executives was too short. He also said the date coincided with their regional meeting.

He also pointed at rumours that Mr. Charles Owusu Ansah was already visiting some polling station executives; a conduct he condemned as being against the party’s rules and warrants a query from the party’s leadership. He explained that until he receives approval from the party’s headquarters, he has no right to embark on any visits to the executives to do any form of campaign activity.

Some of the items to be presented to the office included Printer with photocopier, set of desktop computers, an executive Swivel chair and a 3-drawer office desk.
