NPP, NDC cautioned against politicizing kidnapping of t’adi girls

Okomfo Anokye

A renowned fetish priest, Okomfo Anokye of Abenkyim near Bekwai in Ashanti region has advised the two main political parties, New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) against politicising the kidnapping of the three girls at Takoradi.

He said the conduct of the two parties tends to make mockery of the police, the kidnapped girls and their parents and thus aggravating the situation instead of helping the police concentrate on investigations.

The popular traditionalist said politicization of the issue only adds to the pain of the families and   relatives of the kidnapped girls and urged them to exercise maximum restraint when it comes to issues that affect the sensibilities of the persons who are grieving over the loss of their beloved.

Nana Okomfo Anokye in an interview said in deliberating on national issues, political parties should be objective in the interest of the people whose interest they (politicians) always seek to protect and not to score political points.

He noted that the case of the kidnapping of the three girls in Takoradi for ransom is quite disturbing especially when the police seem not to have any clue to the whereabouts of the girls after all this time.

“Political parties should be part of the solution to national issues by finding lasting solution to the problem at hand instead of finding faults with the police or making fun of the issue to spite the parents of the kidnapped”, the spiritualist advised.

He noted that cases of kidnapping, rape, domestic violence and armed robbery involving the youth is on the increase which situation, he said, is disturbing because it is giving Ghanaians sleepless nights.

He appealed to the Interior Minister, Inspector- General of Police, security agencies and the national security apparatus to be up and doing and be vigilant enough to stamp their authority on the situation.

Nana Okomfo Anokye suggested that the IGP intervenes in the case of COP Tiwaa Addo Dankwa, whose assurance that the girls have been found but turned out to be a hoax, and reassign her to cool down tempers of critics who are calling for her resignation.

He also suggested that the CID boss should do the honourable thing and apologise to Ghanaians.

“The police need concentration to investigate this issue thoroughly for results” and called on the leadership and all stakeholders to be concerned with the increased crime wave.

The fetish priest has also advised authorities to consult with spiritualists and pastors to probe the whereabouts of the girls which has become a national issue to complement the efforts of the police.

He said the kidnaping of the three girls is now a national issue and it is time pastors help find answers to questions about the kidnapped girls. “If pastors can prophesy about the death of prominent personalities at their churches, they should go into the spiritual realm and tell the nation about the girls”, he teased.

Meanwhile, the spiritualist has offered to personally investigate the matter spiritually to help the police with a clue.

“I want to assure the nation that the kidnapped girls would resurface by September if they are truly alive”, he assured.

Okomfo Anokye noted that he would not confine his investigations to the kidnapped girls. “Spiritual investigations should border on parents, families, friends and relations of the kidnapped girls. That is the only way we can get to the bottom of the matter” he noted.
