The Ashanti NPP’s “Baamuyada” demonstration against the electoral commission was characterized by the presence of heavily clad crowd control police and party security.
Though leaders of the demonstration were suspicious of the Police and sought to disagree with them on several scores, including route for the demonstration and pace of movement, flowery comments were passed about the Ashanti Police by various speakers including representatives of the Let My Vote Count Alliance. Ashanti Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye came out himself to ensure things went well for the demonstrators. Some speakers drew a difference between the Police in Accra and those in Kumasi.
NPP’s own security were also clad in blue lacoste type t-shirts with Delta Force inscribed on them.
