Nkoranza South NPP Executives threaten to close party office if MCE remains

Ghana Politics News-Newly elected NPP party executives at Nkoranza South Municipality in the Brong Ahafo Region are calling for the sack of the Municipal Chief Executive of the area.

Already, all party activities at the party office are on hold. They say they will eventually close down the office if the President continues to retain Madam Diana Attaa Kusiwaa in office.

A group of persons alleged to be supporters of the MCE attacked the party’s Secretary; Isaac Afum (also known as Major) at the office whilst was working on some party documents to be sent to Accra last Wednesday. He says his assailants also took away the party’s laptop on which he was working, a mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of money.

It is alleged that the assailants include Hon. Kofi Ohene Sakyi; former elections and research officer of the party, Mr. Adu-Boffuor who is the MCE’s driver, Mr. Jamel Kyeremeh and one Sakune.

Addressing the press in the party office yesterday, Mr. Afum said after the incident, the party executives met and sent some Elders of the party to formally inform the MCE but to their surprise, the MCE further insulted the executives and the council of elders as well.

He says they have realized their lives are in danger if they continue to work under the MCE and hence their decision to run for cover.

Mr. Afum tells journalists he personally reported the matter to the police and was promised thorough investigations into the matter.

Neither the MCE nor any of the alleged assailants would comment on the situation since according to them, the Chairman of the Nkoranza Traditional Council; Oheneba Nana Adjei Baffoe has advised them to remain siletn until he resolves the issues.
