EC boss’ nationality dominates NPP’s “yenpene” demo

demo-NPPSpeakers at the NPP’s “yenpene” demonstration staged in Kumasi today took turns at the Abis park to “send a strong message to EC boss; Charlotte Osei.

Speakers accused her of conniving to bend Ghana’s November 7 election results in favour of the sitting President; John Mahama.

An estimated one thousand people clad in black and red marched from Suame through Abrepo Junction, Ashtown, Adum and ended up at the Abis park where various speakers took turns to educate members on matters arising relative to Ghana’s voters’ register and other issues regarding the NPP’s campaign.

Speakers including the NPP’s Ashanti regional chairman Bernard Antwi-Boasiako and the NDP’s Owusu Bempah questioned the nationality of the EC boss. “Let her tell us her hometown, her grandmum’s name, her mum’s name and her roots”, Chairman Wontumi demanded.

Owusu Bempah also stated emphatically that Madam Charlotte Osei is Nigerian and added that her ploy to steal the elections for John Mahama will be fiercely resisted. “We will resist opressor’s rule as our national anthem states”, he charged.

Other speakers include NPP National Youth Organizer; Sammy Awuku, MP for Suame Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, David Asante of the Let My Vote Count Alliance among several others.

The demonstration also referred to as “Baamuyada” demonstration was jointly organised by the Ashanti NPP, Let My Vote Count Alliance, Movement For Change and the Alliance for Accountable Governance.
