Call Kofi Boakye to order – MP tells IGP

kofi-boakye-Baah-AgyemanMember of Parliament for Tema East, Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to immediately call the Ashanti regional Police Commander DCOP Kofi Boakye to order.

The Asante Akyem North MP, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and Communications Director of National Democratic Party Owusu Bempah organized a press conference on Tuesday highlighting the negative activities of Fulani herdsmen in the area.

Agogo community in the Ashanti region has been having unending trouble with Fulani herdsmen who often allow their cattle to destroy farms and kill or rape anyone who attempts to stop them.

The Ghana Police Service has failed to enforce a court order issued in 2011 for the Fulanis to be moved from Agogo, leading to accusations of collusion.

In the latest sign of their displeasure, the Agogo Youth Association, at a press conference in the town, vowed to prevent the celebration of any festival or anniversary of any chief in Agogo until the troubles with the Fulani herdsmen is resolved. The press conference was addressed by Asante Akyem North MP, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang and Ernest Owusu Bempah, Communications Director of National Democratic Party.

But the police have accused the two politicians of inciting the populace to violence.

Kwadwo Baah Agyemang claims DCOP Kofi Boakye has called and threatened to arrest him for inciting the residents of Agogo.

But Mr. Titus Glover, speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Friday, said since the Ashanti regional Police Commander is not above the law, he should also be dragged before the law for threatening his colleague MP.

“IGP should call DCOP Kofi Boakye to order because he has no right to call someone and threaten him for doing the right thing.

“We cannot allow these fulanis to kill innocent people of Agogo. In fact, I disagree with Kofi Boakye for calling and saying that he will arrest him. It’s very bad and therefore he should be called to order,” he stated.
