Asante Akim North moves to whip up interest in education

paul-kingsley-averuThe Asante Akim North Assembly has budgeted Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis to support brilliant but needy students in the district.

In a further bid to encourage the pursuit of learning, an amount of one thousand cedis will be given to the overall best student in the 2015 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mr. Paul Kingsley Arweh Averu , District Chief Executive (DCE) announced this at the 59th Independence Day Celebration in the district.

Currently, there are 470 beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment against Poverty (LEAP) programme.

According to the DCE, the Assembly last year released GHC 79,382.00 to support 155 people with disabilities and GHC29,000.00 in 2016 to also support 76 of them under the Disability Fund.

The celebration under the theme “Investing in the Youth for Ghana’s Transformation” took place at Domeabre  where students well-dressed matched passed the Ghana flag.
