Your adversaries are not God!

mahamaLast Sunday, my friend, one of the most gifted prophets of our generation who is also a bishop invited me to his church, and I was blessed! The title of his sermon was: Land mines of Destiny.

He tried to debunk the theory that destiny is cast in stone and that there is nothing one can do about it. “God will not remote-control you, you will have to make your own choices and fight your way to victory because the enemy will definitely throw punches at anyone destined for greatness,” he said.

According to him, though there will be a fight against your destiny, the good news is that God who is on your side is the referee and judge of the bout; and, therefore, you have a competitive advantage over your enemy. What you need is to stay focused and have a fighting and resilience spirit. You don’t have to pay attention to the distractions of people – it can make you not fulfill your destiny.

By this, I am not surprised at the punches being thrown at President John Dramani Mahama, but I thought his adversaries’ main agenda is to ensure that he does not rule this country after 2016, and that is why they are throwing punches at him by creating the impression that he is incompetent so he would be voted against. If that is the case, why wouldn’t they want to wait for the people of Ghana to vote him out in 2016? Why do they want to assassinate him before that time? Have they realised that he will win next year’s presidential election because of his matchless leadership? Or they know something we don’t know.

It is reported that a man believed to be in his 30’s, was arrested last Sunday with a gun fully loaded with bullets at Ringway Gospel Assemblies of God church where President Mahama and his family worship.

It is always good to be in the house of God, and the devil himself has found out that if he wants the President, he can only find him at church because that is where he belongs. President Mahama has always trusted God in everything he does, and his trademark of pointing his index finger to the sky where the throne-room of God is, confirms it all.

He is the apple of God’s eye and cannot be touched. It was reported that the suspected assassin became fidgety and his suspicious behaviour caused his arrest. Kikikikiki, I believe the Holy Ghost Fire was tormenting him.

The Bible says in Isaiah 59:19 that when the enemy comes to us like a flood, the Spirit of God will lift up a standard against him. I believe that was what happened on that fateful Sunday. God is faithful, and we must just take Him at His word and just rest upon His promise. I love Mrs. Louisa Stead’s “‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus.”

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His word,
Just to rest upon His promise,
Just to know, “Thus saith the Lord

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to trust His cleansing blood,
Just in simple faith to plunge me
‘Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Refrain:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!

I am by this article wishing the young man from Bole well. And it is my fervent prayer that God through this incident, give him the grace to trust Him more. My president, my brother and my dear friend, your adversaries who throw punches at you are not God. The good news is that you are the apple of the eye of the one who controls your destiny. Therefore, Keep smiling! Keep shining!
