Woman allegedly assaults Policeman at Mampong Bank, some Policemen angry over cover-up

Information reaching rawgist.com is that some Police men are calling for publicity and compensation for their colleague officer who was allegedly “beaten” by a woman at a bank at Asante-Mampong.

There was public outcry a few months ago when a Policeman on duty at another financial institution; Midland Savings and Loans in Accra allegedly assaulted a woman who was bent on withdrawing her money from the bank that day. The woman who many felt was abused by the Police man received donations from the public and some hefty compensation from the Savings and Loans Company.

This time around, it is a lady who is alleged to have created a scene and assaulted the policeman on duty at the Mampong branch of the GN Bank.

The incident happened last Wednesday.

The Police personnel say the President as well as other Ghanaians must hear this one as well the same way it would have gone viral if the Policeman had been the culprit.

The lady; who was identified as a midwife is reported to have visited the bank angry and insisting on withdrawing her money that day after failing to retrieve same some days earlier.

The Police man on duty, who tried to intervene recounts that the angry woman held him by the throat and dished out insults to him. According to him, he had to resist any desire to defend himself considering similar occurrences that put his [Midland Savings and Loans] colleague in trouble.

“She held my neck and kept pointing her fingers in my face. My gun was just by me but I did not touch it” the Policeman on duty recounted.

The woman who witnesses say refused to be calmed down continued to verbally assault Police men at the Police Station including the CID.

Rawgist.com finds out that thought the matter was taken to court the same day, the woman failed to show up. The case has therefore been adjourned to December 6.

Audios available to rawgist.com reveal anger from some Police personnel at the treatment of their colleague and seeming attempts to cover up the alleged assault.

Official Police channels contacted admitted to hearing the matter but say they are getting further details before speaking on the matter.
