Techiman based Winners 98.5 has chalked another feat this time catering for the health needs of over 300 residents of the commercial capital of the Brong Ahafo.
The Winners Health Project, the first of its kind brought together medical personnel from the Holy Family Hospital, residents, media personnel, fitness experts and entertainers in a beautiful gathering that saw several residents undergo various health checks as well as donate blood to stock the Holy Family Hospital Blood Bank.
Many were already seated by 7am, ready for the programme scheduled for 9am.
The maiden event saw residents checking out their Blood sugar, Blood pressure, eyes, breast cancer as well as Hepatitis B status. A magnetic Resonance Imaging machine was also available for full body scans. Many of the residents also donated blood.
The health event also saw upcoming music talents including Kumasi’s Rap Soldiers shaking the station’s premises with their musical performances.
Medical Director for the Holy Family Hospital, Dr. Ernest Ameyaw tells rawgist.com the event is the biggest of its sort witnessed in Techiman since his medical practice in the commercial town. He was excited many people who were found with some of the health conditions screened for have actually visited the hospital for treatment.
General Manager for Winners FM, Bernard Buachi, though excited about the patronage expressed disappointment at the poor response to the station’s request for sponsorship for the mega health event which has become known as the “Winners Health Project”. He however announced the event will be held every quarter.
He called on corporate Ghana to reach out and support subsequent editions of the event in order to promote longevity of residents of the commercial capital of the Brong Ahafo.
