We’ll use education as transformational tool-President

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated his government’s resolve to use education, science and technology to develop the country’s human resource base.

According to him, this is the best way every modern society is developed where every citizen discovers his or her potential through the kind of education they get from the schools they attend.

Speaking at the Flagstaff House after receiving the President of Mauritius and her delegation that are on a State Visit to Ghana, President Akufo-Addo said education was the fastest tool to ensuring rapid transformation in any country.

He, therefore, reiterated his commitment to investing the country’s resources into the funding of quality and free education to ensure citizens put into use the potentials they acquire from school for national development.

ECONOMIC TRANFORMATION:
According to the president there will be total transformation of the country when both human and natural resources are expended in the right arena of the economy.

He noted a confident Nation was a result of a conscious investment into its education, science and technology base.

The president commended Mauritius for the gains they have had in the area of science and technology and hoped both countries could learn from each other to ensure mutual benefit.

He was particularly happy about the growth of the tourism industry in Mauritius and recommended that same approach should be adopted by Ghana to ensure the country reaps from its numerous potential in the area of culture and tourism.

MAURITIUS PRESIDENT:
On her part, President Ameenah Gurib of Mauritius extolled the democratic credentials of Ghana, noting the country had always set the pace for other African Countries to follow.

She stressed the best way for any country to develop was to ensure citizens are given the free hand to choose its leaders.

President Gurib, however, called for a renewed co-operation between the two countries so as to ensure they tap from each other for the benefit of their individual populations.

She said proper and economic transformation takes place in an atmosphere of peace where the energies of the people are harnessed for growth.

Present at the Flagstaff House during the meeting between the two leaders was Mr John Agyekum Kufuor, former president of the Republic.

Welcoming the Mauritius President earlier on at the Kotoka International Airport was the Vice-President, Dr Mahamodu Bawumia.
