The Ghana Veterinary Service is to meet with partners and corporate bodies to solicit their support in helping district assemblies to undertake vaccination of animals against rabies in the various assemblies.
Ghana yesterday marked Rabies Day on the theme; together against rabies. So far the country has recorded 15 deaths of rabies this year.
Speaking with Ultimate Radio, the Director of Alliance for Rabies Control in Ghana, Dr Bashiru Boi Kiki-Moto revealed that Upper East recorded 4 deaths, whiles Greater Accra recorded 2 deaths and the Volta, Ashanti and some place in the Central region recording 3 deaths.
He said the free vaccination that stopped in 1996 has accounted for an upsurge of rabies in the country.
Dr. Kiki-moto therefore urged pet owners to pay a few token to vaccinate their animals and added that early attention helps people to survive.
