Timber industry collapse due to refusal to re-plant logged trees

treeAn Agro Scientist, Mr Gerald Dankwa has reminded Ghanaians of the need to plant trees as a means of protecting the environment.

He says the practice of afforestation will help retain the fertility of the soil and consequently increase agricultural yield.

Speaking on Royal FM morning show, Gerald Dankwa stated that “our timber industries are collapsing because we fail to re-plant after logging” and adds that deforestation has promoted the quick attraction of most infections due to the depletion of the ozone layer.

He advised farmers to plant tree as hedges to their farms which will serve them a lot of benefits int the long run. He also avised the general puplic to desist from logging trees around water bodies; a situation he says deprives many of potable water.
