“Talk to your people”-Yammin to Chinese Ambassador

Joseph YamminDeputy Ashanti regional Minister Joseph Yammin has complained about the activities of some Chinese nationals resident in Ghana and called on the Chinese government advise them.

The Deputy Minister who hosted the Chinese Ambassador Mrs. Sun Boahong, in his office Tuesday pointed out that the Chinese resident in the region were noted for illegal mining, sale of inferior goods and other illegitimate businesses which tarnished the image of their home country; China.

He was particularly sad about the impact of their illegal mining activities on the environment.

Hon. Yammin suggested that there were several genuine businesses they could engage in for the mutual benefit of both countries.

For her part, the Chinese Ambassador explained that China did not support her residents in Ghana in their illegal and harmful activities and promised efforts to fight illegal mining in the Ashanti region by Chinese nationals.

Chinese Ambassador Sun Boahong also held talks with the mayor of Kumasi; Kojo Bonsu who hailed the relationship between Ghana and China and hoped the two countries continued to work closely towards the development of Ghana. He also expressed his desire for a sister city relationship between a city in China and Kumasi.
