Subin delegates reject MP

A section of delegates from the Subin constituency are calling for a change of leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Subin.

They want the Member of Parliament, Hon. Eugene Boakye Antwi to be changed at the impending primaries.

The delegates have staged a demonstration and displayed placards displayed with a simple message: “Eugene must go” and “We need change at Subin”.

They accuse the MP of masterminding the frustration being meted out to aspirants by constituency executives in a bid protect the MP, who they accused of being disrespectful, arrogant, boastful and who allegedly rains insults on delegates who resent his views.

Three other aspirants including Frank Kwadwo Duodu, J. B. Danquah and Villy Acheampong who contested the seat prior to the 2016elections with then incumbent Hon. Isaac Osei have shown up to battle it out with the incumbent MP, Eugene Boakye Antwi.

The aspirants say the Subin seat would be keenly contested in spite of all efforts to undemocratically maintain the sitting MP.

At the time of filing this report, the Subin Secretariat of the party had not opened for aspirants to pick forms.

The constituency secretary, Mr. Akuamoah Boateng explains that the constituency would have to form an Elections Committee to supervise the exercise. According to him, a prospective member of the yet to be formed Committee was sick and therefore they had to wait for him to recovery to constitute the Committee.

Delegates in the Subin constituency intend to adopt voter apathy to erode the gains of the party in the constituency if sitting MPs are imposed on them.

One of the aspirants, Mr. Frank Duodu has been compelled to petition the Regional Secretariat asking to pick his nomination form at that level.
