Smart Women Alliance, Ejisu MP makes aged happy

Close to one hundred widows and aged persons were screened for various health conditions and also entertained as part of the Christmas festivities.

Smart Women Alliance; a non-profit organization with support from the Member of Parliament for Ejisu; Dr. John Kumah screened the aged persons, counseled them, had a health discussion forum, fed them and gave them various Christmas gifts.

The event which took place at the Okyerekrom Pentecost Church premise saw the old people learning to do simple exercises some of which involve sitting on a chair or even in bed.

Madam Abigail Adjei; the Executive Director of Smart Women Alliance explained that there have been smaller efforts towards putting smiles on the old faces in previous years but was glad to have had support from the MP for Ejisu towards a more desirable program. She said many of the aged persons had issues with their Blood Pressure and blood Sugar and were happy at the opportunity to meet health practitioners to discuss their issues.

She revealed that the program will be held annually to help give widows and the aged something to look forward to.

Madam Abigail Adjei, who is also a Midwife called on wealthy individuals and corporate organizations to support the initiative and make it bigger. She was also full of gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency and prayed God’s blessings upon him.

The aged persons who spoke to rawgist.com expressed gratitude and excitement and encouraged the organizers to do more of such programmes for them.
