Sam Pyne Appeals To Mahama For Payment of ESB To Former MMDCEs.

Mr. Samuel Pyne, the former Mayor of Kumasi, has publicly appealed to the President of the Republic to authorize the immediate payment of End-of-Service Benefits (ESB) owed to former Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).

Speaking recently on Asempa FM, Mr. Pyne noted that the former MMDCEs have been waiting for these payments for almost a year with no positive communication.

“As a former Mayor of Kumasi, I want to remind the President that our ESB has not been paid. I appeal to him to fulfill this obligation to us through the Ministry of Local Government,” Mr. Pyne stated.

Financial Strain:
Mr. Pyne highlighted the significant financial burden currently faced by the former officials.

He explained that despite leaving office, many citizens still view them as influential figures and continue to approach them for various forms of support and assistance.

“Most of us are currently relying on the little savings we made while in office to sustain us,” he admitted.

He believes that the prompt payment of the ESB would place them in a better position to meet their family needs, take care of personal responsibilities, and continue providing help to constituents who rely on them.

“We appeal to the President to pay our ESB so we can support our families and take care of other responsibilities,” the former Mayor reiterated, emphasizing the importance of the outstanding payments.

National Ambition
In a separate development, Mr. Pyne used the platform to reiterate his decision to contest for the position of Vice-Chairperson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He stressed that the party requires experienced individuals to support the Chairman and effectively execute the party’s national mandate.

Mr. Pyne highlighted his extensive background, which includes serving three terms as the Ashanti Regional Secretary and working within the party structure before 1992.

“I am committed to serving the NPP with the over three decades of experience and knowledge in party organisation and membership mobilisation matters,” the Vice-Chairperson hopeful affirmed, stating the time is right to bring his deep-rooted expertise to the national level.
