Police Chief expresses worry over Afro barometer survey

ghana policeThe police divisional commander of Konongo , Chief Supritendant Alex Amenyo has expressed shock at the public perception on police Administration over corruption.

According to the CDD afro barometre just released, the Police recorded eighty nine percent in corruption.

He says the eighty nine percent recorded for the Police is too high thinking all other institutions should be included.
“We were not trained to be corrupt”, he lamented.

However in Accra, the Public Relations officer of the Police service, DSP Cephas Arthur said the Police do not “trust” the findings of the survey. “I think it is so monotonous that this time around we intended not to comment, but we feel that it is in the public domain.”
He added: “As it stands, it remains an academic exercise. It is academic because I don’t trust it, I think it is not deeply scientific enough to bring out the truth of the situation”.

According to him, the report is “monotonous and inaccurate because to get the true reflection of the real index on the ground, you need to do more random sampling”.

The Konongo police chief went on to encourage the general public to have confidence in them since the Police is there to protect the people.
