NDC Communication wing plots for power in 2020

The Communication wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has started what observers believe is a step to unifying its grassroots.

In a meeting last Tuesday at the party’s regional party office at Amakom, a suburb in the Kumasi Metropolis communication officers from the various constituencies across the region met to among other things discuss matters aimed at unifying the rank and file of the party.

Opening the meeting, Samed Akalilu, Ashanti Regional Communications Officer underscored the importance of getting party officers to carry on with duties aligned to the positions they occupy.

According to him, this will remark a start to getting the party prepared ahead of time for the 2020 general elections.

He rallied communication officers to play their roles as designated for them and urged officers to reach the party’s grass-root with the message of unity and reconciliation.

GUEST:
Speaking at the function later, Dr Samuel Sarpong, the immediate past Managing Director for the State Housing Company (SHCL) reiterated the need for unity amongst supporters, sympathizers and party executives.

This, he stressed will be the only way the NDC can regroup and conquer the challenges that rocked the party’s boat in the 2016 general elections.

He asked that party members conduct themselves in manners that will draw support to its fold and ensure that the party generates numbers to enable it win the 2020 elections.

Dr Sarpong cautioned NDC members against infighting, an issue he stressed can erode the gains the party is getting through its restructuring efforts.

OTHER SPEAKERS:
On his part, Augustus Nana Akwasi, an aspiring regional chairman of the party indicated the resolve of party executives to remain solid behind the communications wing.

He expressed confidence in the party’s communicators who he noted have had to spend their own resources to ensuring they make the party a viable alternative to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Fusieni Donkor, Former District Chief Executive for the Sekyere Afram Plains commended efforts by the Regional Communications Outfit.

He rallied former government appointees to help in the restructuring efforts of the party to ensuring the 2020 general elections becomes less stressful for the NDC.
