MTN gives to Muslims…launches 21 days volunteer work same day

MTN-Ghana officials on Monday afternoon visited the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam to donate food and beverage items worth Five Thousand Cedis (GHC5, 000.00)

The team also presented an undisclosed sum of money and a ram to the Chief Imam and the EID Planning Committee.

Speaking to the media after the brief presentation ceremony, Simon Amoh, Senior Manager, General Trade-MTN Northern Business District said the company believes in the existence of God.

The Ramadan fast, he noted is therefore something MTN considers a scared exercise by Muslims and hence the decision to present some items to help them celebrate the upcoming EID.

‘’MTN respects the art of faith and worship and has consistently donated to support Muslims during Ramadan and the EID that follows the fast and this year the company is doing so to affirm its belief in the act’’, Mr Amoh noted.

ACCEPTANCE:

Receiving the items on behalf of the Chief Imam, Ustaz Ahmed Seidu, Special Assistant to the Regional Chief Imam expressed delight at the gesture.

He said MTN has continuously donated to support Muslims during Ramadan and the ensuing EID.

This gesture by the Company, Sheikh Ustaz mentioned makes them unique since they show reverence to the Islamic faith.

He thanked the company for also ensuring pilgrims who embark on the holy journey to Mecca have SIM cards that enable them to use their favorite network outside the shores of Ghana seamlessly.

‘’We at the Regional chief Imam’s office are grateful to MTN for showing tremendous support to us and unceasingly giving to support us at Ramadan and the EID that follows and we pray the company does well in business so as to be able to support the Ghanaian economy’’, Sheikh Ustaz stressed.

YELLO CARE:

In another development, MTN Ghana has launched this year’s season of staff volunteer work popularly called ‘Yello care’.

Speaking succinctly at the company’s headquarters at Nhyiaeso during the official launch, Nii Adotey Mingle, General Manager-MTN Northern Business District urged staff to give off their best in rendering services to communities they would tour for the voluntary work.

He mentioned the involvement of the National Youth Authority (NYA) in this year’s celebration since the outfit deals directly with youth issues and could better understand same.

The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s (KATH) Psychiatric Department is also involved in this year’s Ashanti version of Yello care as it is expected to give counseling to the youth who are fond to be indulging in the use of illicit and banned substances to enhance either studies or speed of work in class.
