KEEA: Police team up with Chiefs to destroy ghettos and arrest criminals

The Police within the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem (KEEA) Municipality have joined hands with the Chiefs and the youth of the area to destroy structures along the coast that are being used as ghettos for drug dealers and criminals.

Police Commander for the Municipality; Supt. Samuel Entsuah explained to journalists that the Police realized the power wielded by the traditional authorities and decided to partner them; a move he says has made the operation highly successful.

He is confident the gains of the operation which he says is endorsed by the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) will be sustained. He assured that the Police will consistently patrol the various locations to ensure the drug addicts and criminals do not return.

Edina Omanhene Nana Kwadwo Conduah VI complained about the rising drug menace in the area saying that the youth who are the future leaders have sadly taken to “wee, cocaine, tramol and even glue”. He stated that about 85% of the culprits are not from the area but have made the place their operations centre.

He was thankful to the Police and the youth of the area for their efforts at fighting crime and drug abuse in the area and assured that they will ensure that all such ghettos are destroyed. “We will persue them wherever they decide to go with their nefarious activities” he said.

He highlighted the need for counseling programmes for those arrested in order to reform them.
