Judgement Debt Commission to end public sitting October ending

sole-commissionerThe Judgement Debt Commission is set to wrap up its public hearings at the end of this month.

The commission was set up by President John Dramani Mahama in 2012 to look into judgment debt payments to individuals and institutions from 1992 to date.

This was after it became known that huge sums of public funds were paid out as judgment debt sometimes under questionable circumstances.

The payment of over 51 million cedis to businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome,Construction Pioneers among others generated huge public outcry prompting the state to initiate processes to recover the funds. The subsequently established the commission with Justice Yaw Apau as sole commissioner to investigate all judgement debt payments.

The Commission is expected to present its report to the President by the end of December, this year.
