The district chief executive for the Zabzugu district in the northern region Hon. Ahmed Abubakari Iddrisu Adarkwa has boasted that his district is the current home of football in the entire north.
He made this comment when he hosted the best player and goal King of the just ended GFA under 17 league championship Salifu Abdul-Razak at his office.
The DCE praised the young champ and his coaches for putting the name of Zabzugu on the globe and pledged to assist in whatever capacity to develop the sport in his district.
He used the opportunity to appeal to government to provide the district with a befitting football field as has been witnessed in Karaga, Yendi, Salaga and Walewale since according to him there is more football in Zabzugu than any district in the north.
He called on all interested in young football talents to look no further than Zabzugu as it is the current home of football in the north.
He made a cash donation of a thousand Ghana cedis to the young champ and his coaches to enable him prepare for his role in the national Under 17 squad.
The young champ Salifu Abdul-Razak expressed his gratitude to all natives of Zabzugu for their prayer and support and asked for thier continuous prayers as he embarks on a bigger task in the national Under 17 assignments.
He assured the north he will work harder to put the name of Zabzugu, Dagbon and the north on the globe.
The coach Mr. Umar Abubakari Sadiq thanked the DCE for his continuous show of interest and support for football in the district.
He also mentioned other players who currently have assignments at other places outside Zabzugu and called on all natives of Zabzugu both home and abroad to support the team as they have a lot of tallents.
The team also visited a sole financier of the club and CEO of ABM group of companies as well as a courtesy call on the Paramount chief of Yelzoli traditional area for their blessings.
