Jomoro NDC exposes NPP over Half-Assini residents’ photos displayed as Togolese Nationals

electoral-registerThe NDC in the Jomoro constituency have taken the running mate of the NPP; Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP to the cleaners over what they call “strange and deliberate attempts by the NPP to change the nationality of proud Ghanaians into Togolese just for propaganda purposes”.

The Jomoro NDC, in a press statement accused the NPP of showcasing pictures of “known residents of Half-Assini in the Jomoro district who have no business whatsoever in Togo” as Togolese whose names were found in the “bloated” voters’ register of Ghana.

“We identified with shock and dismay the images that accompanied Friday, 4 September, 2015 publication of peacfmonline.com, captioned “Ghanaians in Togo Fight Dr.Bawumia over voters’ register “. In fact, the images are all known residents of Half-Assini in the Jomoro district who have no business whatsoever in Togo.”

According to the statement, the individuals whose pictures were displayed were visibly shaken by the act and the Jomoro NDC could not help but lay the blame at the doorstep of the NPP in the area.

PRESS RELEASE! PRESS RELEASE!! PRESS RELEASE!!!

Jomoro District
National Democratic Congress
Half Assini
7th September, 2015
RE: GHANAIANS IN TOGO FIGHT DR. BAWOMIA OVER VOTERS’ REGISTER

We bring you greetings from the rank and file of the great family of NDC in the Jomoro constituency.

It has become necessary for us in the Jomoro constituency to add our voice to the controversial issue of foreigners on our voters’ register as claimed by NPP’s Dr. Mahmmud Bawomia.

We identified with shock and dismay the images that accompanied Friday, 4 September, 2015 publication of peacfmonline.com, captioned “Ghanaians in Togo Fight Dr.Bawumia over voters’ register “.

In fact, the images are all known residents of Half-Assini in the Jomoro district who have no business whatsoever in Togo.

This development came to us as a strange and a deliberate attempt by the NPP to change the nationality of proud Ghanaians into Togolese just for propaganda purposes.

Our concerns are that; what are all these desperations for? Must we scrape others of their nationality just because we need power? Have we suddenly become uncultured because we are itching to grab power?

These inferior, cheap and lazy tactics cannot guarantee your success in elections 2016.

When this unfortunate propaganda driven images were published and the attention of the individuals concerned were drawn to it, they became shocked. These innocent people got traumatized and completely frustrated as if their enviable citizenship is being snatched from them. Worst among all was how Abena Kwansema, a kenke seller and a victim, was seen visibly shivering upon hearing the news.

Meanwhile, the body language and the way Abetchi Xaviere Monin was throwing herself about and complaining bitterly about the development, it was a clear indication that she was confused.

We are left with no doubt that, the NPP executives in Jomoro constituency have a hand in such filthy, diabolic and a well calculated attempt to illegally denounce the citizenship status of some well-meaning Ghanaians.

Our advice to the NPP is that, this selfish, selective and cheap propaganda cannot change the perception of Ghanaians over the unacceptable, repulsive, arrogant and the desperate character of their flagbearer ‘emeritus’, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, for power.

If the fear is also about the way the people of Jomoro are rejecting their parliamentary candidate Paul Essien for the mess that he has caused himself then they should forget it. The way forward is never mischief but rather, they (NPP) need to embark on rebranding to white wash the image of both their flagbearer ‘emeritus’ and his
parliamentary candidate, Paul Essien.

These are clear manifestation that the call for change of the voters’ register is borne out of malice and desperation to grab power by all means.

We are firm with our position that changing the voters’ register is not the solution to the problems associated with it currently as claimed by the NPP but rather auditing of the voters’ register should be the way to go.

Thank you.

  1. The NPP is trying to perpetrate may harm in the country and are trying to justify by using mean problem of the voters register which in actual a sends can have no negative effect on the impending 2016 election. And the NDC is assuring Ghanains that it never materialised come what may.
