‘Ghanaian Students should Pursue More Post Graduate Studies to Improve Job Prospects’ – Dr. Adu Gyamfi

Ghana Education News – President of Ghana Baptist University College (GBUC), Dr.  Rev.Yaw Adu Gyamfi has underscored the need for Ghanaian students to pursue more post graduate studies to curb the soaring rate of unemployment, among other problems facing the country.

According to him, a crowded market space with increasing competition for jobs and an oversupply of graduates, has made the search for these limited job opportunities cumbersome with only a bachelor’s degree.

He noted that the hiring landscape for job has gradually changed in the recent times from bachelor’s degree to master’s degree, which used to be gold standard for job applicants.

He therefore urged student to pursue any of GBUC post graduate degree programmes to improve their career prospect as well as open doors to excite new possibilities.

Speaking at a launch of Post graduate programmes for African Students held at Kumasi on Tuesday November 20, Dr. Gyamfi noted that the initiative will offer opportunities for Ghanaians to pursue masters and doctorate programs at  Sumy State University – a leading university in Ukraine.

He said, Such programs will enriched pursuers Curriculum vitae and increase their chances of gaining good graduate jobs with better working conditions and remuneration.

Additionally, the initiative embark under the auspices Sumy State University and GBUC will offer students the opportunity to change their carrier, redefined areas of studies and reposition them as experts.

Rev.Gyamfi argued that Post graduate studies can open doors, enriched carrier prospect and satisfy intellectual curiosity of students.

He maintained that the post graduate programmes including PHD international business administration, Msc environmental and natural resources, MBA Human Resource management and several others are designed to offer a transferable skills and equip graduate with numerous skills valued at work place including project management, teamwork , critical and literal thinking,  data handling, advance research, self motivation and determination.

“It is these skills, abilities and experience that makes hiring of post graduate over other graduates ” He added.

The project coordinator for Africa at Sumy State University,  Tathiana May Boroda said their collaboration with GBUC, which started over a year ago is to augment their initiatives to expand their programs to Africa.

She said the partnership will afford to develop and enrich beneficiaries skills and knowledge.
